Richard Hales to Open Blackbrick in Midtown

Richard Hales – the culinary mastermind behind Sakaya Kitchen and Dim Ssäm à gogo – is set to open his 3rd concept Blackbrick in Midtown in the fall of 2013. While Sakaya offers a playful interpretation of Korean-inspired street food and Dim Ssäm à gogo took it to the streets, Blackbrick will offer Hale’s take on traditional and modern Chinese dishes in a hip, intimate environment.

Although the menu is still in the works, you can expect to find dishes like soy milk pancakes with smoked pork, leek flower sauce and pickled mustard greens; a number of nose-to-tail dishes (ie. whole lamb, pig and house-made tofu and vegetarian selections; a full dim sum menus with traditional favorites and contemporary creations.  “As with Sakaya Kitchen, I’ll definitely be using modern tools and techniques to deliver the right flavors and textures,” adds Hales, “but the focus will always be on honoring a dish’s ingredients and history.”

Blackbrick will be located at 3451 NE 1st Avenue (#103) in Midtown Miami — and seating is limited to just 50 people. A la carte plates will range in price from $5-$12 and a 5-course tasting menu will be available for $35.
