New Menu at Casa D’Angelo

There are some times when you just want to be pampered and not worry about a thing in the world. In our world, that usually means a trip to an incredible restaurant where exquisite cuisine is combined with flawless service, a beautiful ambiance and where our every need is attended to. It takes a special restaurant to fulfill these needs — and after a recent visit to Casa D’Angelo, this classic Italian restaurant has made its way to the top of our list of where to go for an exquisite dining experience in Boca Raton.

If you haven’t been for awhile, now may be the perfect time to visit, as this highly regarded northern Italian restaurant recently launched a new menu. This updated menu offers an array of of new dishes including appetizers, salads, pastas and new seafood and meat entrées — and from what we tasted on our last visit (yes, we were delighted by an invitation to taste the new menu items), our stomachs were smiling all night.

CasaSalad

New to the appetizer menu ($8-19) is a pasta e fagioli soup; Veal & Reggiano meatballs; and a plate of juicy chargrilled jumbo prawns served with Runway arugula and lemon oil (seen above), simple flavors that let the ingredients shine.

Italian food does not always mean a heavy meal, and the updated menu features a variety of entrée salads that are perfect for the warming temperatures. Both the bietole e spinaci — a plate of roasted red beets, baby spinach, gigante beas, Sicilian aged ricotta and orange oil dressing — and the Caesare al Tartufo Nero  — Casa d’Angelo’s version of the Caesar with black truffles taking the place of anchovies — were a welcome play on traditional dishes.

CasaPasta

An evening of Italian cuisine is not complete without a bowl of house made pasta, and this new menu offers 3 pasta dishes ($18-24) that will whisk you off to the cobblestone streets of Italy. These include Risotto with porcini mushrooms, black truffle shavings and Alba truffle oil; Hand-rolled penne with thinly sliced chopped mushrooms, prosciutto, Reggiano and vodka tomato cream sauce; and Pappardelle with Chianti-braised Lamb Ragout (seen above).

Swordfish

A section of fresh Seafood ($30-36) and hearty Meat ($26-48) dishes have also been added to the menu, as well. Think — Oven-Roasted Branzino with asparagus, Roma tomato, fresh oregano and lemon garlic; Jumbo Tiger Shrimp with Gaeta olives, spicy tomato sauce and broccoli rapini; Pan-Fried Chicken Breast with marinara, fresh mozzarella and roasted eggplant; and Prime Grilled Ribeye with porcini rub, caramelized balsamic onions and arugula Reggiano salad.

We had been eyeing the branzino all night, but unfortunately, the restaurant had run out of it by the time we were ready for our main course. I guess we’ll have to try that on a return visit, instead we were treated to the fish special of the day  — a Blackened Swordfish Steak with fingerling potatoes and garlicky broccoli rabe, a welcome alternative.

CasaChocolate

When we thought that we could not take one more bite, a plate of warm chocolate cake, fresh berries and a glass of Pinot Noir were placed before us – and we savored every last bite. We left Casa d’Angelo with happy images of an exquisite dining experience  and fond food memories to take home with us.

Casa d’Angelo is located at 171 E Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton; (561) 996-1234.
