Sushi Garage Happy Hour Review

Sushi Garage, in Miami Beach’s Sunset Harbour neighborhood, has an outstanding Japanese-inspired Happi Hour. The select menu of creative and refreshing cocktails, ($7), and delicious bites, ($4-$6) are ridiculously affordable.

Invited to experience the restaurants’ happy hour, occurring daily from 5:30 PM – 7 PM, with walked up to its light gray, curved building that once housed an auto body shop. Entering the retained garage door, we were greeted by the tranquil atmosphere. A light wood and pale-green décor, with a sea of aluminum koi fish dangling from the ceiling, relaxes this causally upscale sushi spot.

We eagerly started ordering happy hour cocktails, beginning with In The Mood. Made with Japanese pear purée, vanilla syrup and Villa Sandi prosecco, it is a sugary and heavier version of the Bellini. In contrast, the carbonated Cooler Cucumber –New Amsterdam vodka, cucumber juice and club soda, was notably not sweet.

Similarly light and refreshing, was the aromatic and fruity Okuma. Jose Cuervo tequila is mixed housemade orange-strawberry-fennel syrup and Fever Tree tonic.

In pursuit of another hour of happiness, we tried Sushi Garage’s Japanese take on sangria, Wine Tea. This crisp and clean cocktail blends Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio and green tea. It is delicately spiced with lemongrass, and filled with diced cucumbers.

The Happi Bites menu offers half orders of superb sushi rolls (3 pieces), from Salmon Avocado to Shrimp Tempura, to easily share.

Other notable options include Avocado Tempura –buttery avocado slices dipped in batter and delicately fried, accompanied by ginger and soy dipping sauce, and Dumpling Soup. A soft dumpling, with a tasty shrimp and chicken filling, floats in a bowl of savory broth and crunchy bok choy.

For bigger appetites, go for the Yaki Soba Noodles. The plate full of ramen noodles, stirred fried with onions and carrots, are coated in a slightly sweet brown sauce. A popular street food in Japan, it is garnished with green Aonori, dried Bonito flakes, and pickled Pink ginger to be mixed before consuming.
