From wine to beer to caviar to oysters, we’ve certainly had our share of tastings. So, it was about time that we took our tastings up a notch and spent an evening with one of our new favorites — bourbon. With over 23 bourbons on their shelf and 13 whiskies, Bobbi Sue BBQ in West Palm Beach was the ideal setting. We found a date, invited in Pamela Obando — Whiskey Guardian from Angel’s Envy and gathered a group of bourbon enthusiasts for an evening of bourbon, a delicious sampling of bites from Bobbi Sue BBQ — and yes, more bourbon.
With 100 samples of bourbon prepared for the group, Pamela greeted the group and introduced us to 5 different brands — Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Woodford Reserve, Old Forrester and Angel’s Envy. We learned the ins and outs of bourbon like what makes bourbon a bourbon, the distilling process, differences between the various brands and then it was time to taste — and taste we did.
We all agreed that these bourbons were tasty and each had unique characteristics. Some left with their tried and true still being a favorite, while others discovered something new. In the end, we all experienced a fun-filled and delicious night out.
