I’ll admit it. I’ve jumped on 95 and driven past Boynton Beach hundreds of times and I could count on one hand the number of times I had stopped. That was until about 6 months. Over the past year, Boynton Beach has been booming with restaurant openings — each unique in its own way. The latest to enter the dining scene is Little House.
The Little House is home to Chrissy Benoit, who you may know from her days at Havana Hideout (where you sipped on glasses of sangria into the wee hours of the night), her catering company Adventurous Palate Catering and The Production Kitchen. She has taken the historical Ruth Jones Cottage — which last year moved to it’s new location at 480 E Ocean Blvd — and turned it into a charming, laid-back restaurant in what the city of Boynton hopes to be the new entertainment district.
This new addition to Boynton will be open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week — with a casual pajama brunch (yes, anything goes here) later in the fall. The menu will offer gourmet comfort food and I can see this as becoming a locals’ hangout. This is a place you can go multiple times during the week, as everything is priced at $12 or below. Menu highlights include a Pickled Beet & Toasted Walnut Salad with cilantro, brown sugar and balsamic ($6); Indian Butter Chicken with Tandoori Naan ($9); Mac & Cheese of the Day ($6); a Pulled Pork Sandwich on onion kaiser with chipotle coleslaw ($9); and for dessert — Pop Rock Petite Citrus Sour Cream Trifle ($6).
As for drinks, you will find a great selection of beers on draft — many being from local brewers, an affordable wine list and her famous sangria. While everything is very affordable, you should be aware that this is a cash-only restaurant, although there is an atm inside.
And for happy hour — you’re going to love this one. It will take place Monday to Friday from 3-7 pm. Guests will enjoy a 16 0z Beer of the Week for $3; Selected Wines (7 oz glass) for $4; Signature Infusion Cocktails for $5; Boiled peanuts are free for patrons; and $1 sliders will be offers (limit 2 per drink).
