Dine Out for Breast Cancer Awareness

October is a month of many happenings. It’s National Pasta Month, National Seafood Month, National Cookie Month and more importantly, it’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Local restaurants — near and far — are celebrating by donating a portion of their sales to this fantastic cause. Here’s how you can participate in helping this fantastic out.

  • All 16 Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza locations will donate 50% of Castronovo Wine sales (both Castronovo’s Montepulciano d’Abruzzo red wine and Pecorino white wine) to the Dolphins Cycling Challenge’s “Team Gina.”  Team Gina is led by breast cancer survivor Gina Castronovo, wife of Paul Castronovo, host of Big 105.9’s Paul & Young Ron Show and owner of Castronovo Wines.
  • Solita Italian Restaurant & The Parlor Lounge in Delray Beach will donate a portion of proceeds from their signature Watermelon Martini during the month of October to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
  • The Fontainebleau will bring their Bleau goes Pink campaign back this year. During the month of October, the restaurants at the Fontainebleau will offer special prix-fixe menus for $45 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Miami/Fort Lauderdale Chapter of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. These “Dine for the Cure” menus will be available Sunday through Thursday in October. Discounted valet will also be offered.
  • Tacos & Tatas Tuesdays are back at Rocco’s Tacos during the month of October. Take advantage of Rocco’s famed Taco Tuesday deal — all-you-can-eat with all the fixings for just $14.99 — and a percentage of their sales will be donated to breast cancer research via Susan G. Komen. In 2011, this promotion raised $15,000.
  • Drink for a cause this month at Toscana Divino in Brickell. During the month of October, 20% of the sales of two of Toscana Divino’s specialty drinks — the Litchi Rosa and the Raspberry Chocolate Cheesecake — will be donated to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Research Center.
  • Smith & Wollensky will feature a pink dessert and wine pairing during the month of October with a portion of proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Awareness.  The featured dessert is a Chocolate Cherry Cream Pie and Gerard Betrand Banyuls. Sales of the Smith & Wollensky Pink Ribbon Pin will also go to support this great cause.
  • It’s time for dessert at db Bistro Moderne Miami and Cafe Boulud. Both restaurants will be featuring a frozen macaroon during the month of October with a portion of proceeds going to the Suan G. Komen for the Cure. This macaroon features two pink macaroon cookies filled with an icy pink center of lemon curd, guanabana and raspberry sorbet.
