Fresh pizza made to order is what Cucina Pizza by Design is all about. This new, fast-casual concept opened last month and might be your answer to getting fresh, clean food when time is tight.
Located next to Whole Foods Market in West Palm Beach, Cucina Pizza by Design combines farm fresh ingredients with personal hand crafted pizzas and salads — for a speedy, feel-good meal in typically 5 minutes or less.
Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, Cucina offers a few main options for you to choose from — pizzas, salads, sandwiches and a few Italian favorites — and all are priced at or below $10. While the Eggplant Parmesan and the Roasted Chicken Wings were a delight to the palate (we were invited in to get a taste of the menu), it’s the pizzas that are making a buzz, and for good reason — they’re quick, use fresh and local ingredients and can be personalized to fit everyone’s taste and dietary guidelines. For these made-to-order pies, diners start off by selecting their dough (traditional, whole-wheat or gluten-free) — we tried them all and while we’ll probably stick with the traditional crust on our next visit, the gluten-free option worked as well and offered a thin, crispy alternative.
After selecting the dough, diners choose their choice of sauce (oven-roasted tomato, parmesan crema, pesto, fig jam or roasted garlic purée), cheese (ie. mozzarella, truffle ricotta, smoked provolone, veggie cheese), protein (ie. prosciutto, Italian sausage, chicken, rosemary ham) and veggies (ie. caramelized onions, pine nuts, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes). Then, the 12-in personalized pizza is cooked in an 800-degree wood fire oven, and is ready to go in minutes. Price for the basic pizza is just $5.95 — and that should make anyone smile. Additional toppings are priced at just $1 for cheese and veggie options and $2 for protein options.
Since Cucina offers pizzas for a variety of taste buds, they also offer one to satisfy your sweet tooth — that’s sinfully delicious, we might add. It’s made with nutella, fresh bananas and strawberries and powdered sugar — and yes, it’s worth every calorie.
