Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli’s Taperia Raca to Open Friday, March 28th

Back in 2010 when DINE Magazine was still around, DINE’s wine club led by yours truly, took a trip to 660 at The Angler’s for a Happy Hour event. We thoroughly enjoyed the cozy lounge area, the personable staff and the creative cuisine coming out of the kitchen. That was our first introduction to Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli. We’ve been following him ever since — and we’ve seen him grow from a young chef in the kitchen to a powerhouse in the South Florida dining scene. First, it was Chopped and then on to the Eating House (His beet carpaccio remains one of my favorite dishes of 2013) — so we were thrilled to hear about the upcoming opening of his latest restaurant, Taperia Raca. We have yet to be disappointed.

Rapicavoli has teamed up with business partner from Eating House, Alex Casanova and together, they’re set to launch a hip and cozy Spanish tapas restaurant and wine bar in Miami’s MiMo District this Friday, March 28th. In the kitchen, you will find Chef Ryan Harrison, formerly of Preservation in Sunny Isles.

On the menu at Taperia Raca, you will find a selection of Charcuterie & Cheese Plates; small cold plates (Platos Frios) like Pulpo a la Vinagreta – poached octopus, lemon, onion, olive oil and herbs and Aceitunas Aliniadas – marinated Spanish olives with orange, lemon & garlic; small hot plates (Platos Calientes) like Empanadas de Bacalao – stuffed with salt cod, pickled garlic and potato and Alitas de Pato – duck wings with sweet/sour fig and pimenton salt; and a variety of desserts.

A special brunch menu will be served on Sundays — which gives the culinary team more room to play. You’ll find a creative take on classic brunch dishes like Tortilla Chanchito with organic eggs, chorizo, Serrano ham, bacon and Manchego; Patatas Contentas – fried baked potatoes, black truffle and bacon; and Panqueques de Maiz y Durazno – cornmeal peach pancakes with peach syrup.
