Are you craving guacamole, or rather ginger guacamole? Well, today’s the day to indulge, as it’s National Guacamole Day. This holiday, celebrated on September 16 each year, gives praise to the avocado – a fruit that we consider to be a superfood. Yes, it’s packed with fat, but it’s the “good fat” and it also contains an abundance of antioxidants, fiber, potassium and can help reduce cholesterol, fight cancer and may help in losing weight.
This year, we turned to Julien Gremaud, the chef / owner of Avocado Grill, because he knows a thing or two about avocados. Not only can you go to Avocado Grill for their grilled avocado wedges, tuna avocado spring rolls, and their nutella avocado mousse, you can now enjoy an avocado treat at home; as Chef shared with us his recipe for Avocado Grill’s Ginger Guacamole.
Avocado Grill is located at 125 Datura St., West Palm Beach; avocadogrillwpb.com
Recipe courtesy of Executive Chef Julien Gremaud.
- 3 Ripe Avocados
- 3 tbsp Lime Juice
- 2 tbsp Red Onion diced
- 2 tbsp Tomatoes diced
- 2 tbsp Jalapeño diced
- 1 1/2 tbsp Ginger finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Sriracha
- 3 tbsp Cilantro chopped

Slice avocados in half. Discard the seed. Scoop flesh out of shell with a spoon and place in bowl.
Add 1/2 of the lime juice immediately to prevent browning. Use a fork and mash to desired consistency.
Add chopped onion, tomato, jalapeño, ginger, Sriracha, and cilantro. Stir gently to mix ingredients.
Add remainder of lime juice, plus salt and pepper to taste. Stir just slightly, until incorporated.
Serve as a dip with your favorite tortilla chips, or use with your favorite dish.
