An Evening of Luxury at Boca Bacchanal

Selecting one glass of wine from a list can be quite a feat in itself, so why not taste your way through the entire collection? Such was the case at this year’s Boca Bacchanal,

where wine and food lovers from around the area gathered to experience an evening of elegance for the annual event, now in it’s 13th year.

There were some changes that took place at this year’s event — including a change of venue — which brought a different feel all around. Rather than the casual Sunday afternoon feel, this year’s event was a bit more formal, and took place at the Boca Raton Atlantic Aviation Airport Hangar — and there were mixed feelings amongst the crowd. Personally, I’m crossing my fingers that they go back to the outdoor setting, but time will tell. Nonetheless, this year’s event was still an awesome event.

While the venue was different, the quality of wines being served was top notch, thanks to Republic National. We sipped our way through some magnificent wines including: King Estate Pinot Gris; HALL wines; Silver Oak; Niner Wine Estates; Round Pond Estates; and Gifft Wines by Kathy Lee Gifford. I’ll have one of each.

Since great wine deserves delicious food, Boca Bacchanal did an excellent job in balancing out the two. The event featured both familiar restaurants like Truluck’s, The Boca Resort, Apron’s Cooking School, Yardhouse, Oceans 234, Sorrisi and City Cellar — and newcomers like Merlino’s, M.E.A.T. Eatery & Taproom, Godiva and DaVinci’s of Boca. Our top pick of the night was the stone crab claws from Truluck’s (you made our day).

Time ran out before I was able to make it over to the silent auction or to Sak’s 5th Avenue so I can’t report on those, but rumor is that they were fabulous additions.  I guess that I was distracted by all of the great wine surrounding me.

This event is one of my favorites (and hopefully yours too), so remember to stay tuned for details on next year’s event.
