Celebrate National Rum Day with a Rum Cocktail

Today, it’s a perfect time to celebrate. Why not sit back and relax while sipping on a rum cocktail, nibbling on a slice of Lemon Meringue pie and reciting quotes from Julia Child? With that, you’ll have today’s food holidays covered — Happy National Rum Day, National Relaxation Day, Lemon Meringue Pie Day + it’s also Julia Child’s birthday. Now, that’s a mouthful.

In honor of today’s celebration, we have some fabulous rum cocktails for you, courtesy of Tanduay Rum.

The first, pictured above, is The 1854. This is a Far East take on the classic Mai Tai.

THE 1854

1 oz. Tanduay Silver Asian Rum
1 oz. Tanduay Gold Asian Rum
½ oz. orange Curacao
¾ oz. Orgeat syrup
¾ fresh lime juice
Final float of ½ oz. Tanduay Gold Asian rum

Put all ingredients into a mixing glass (except float) and shake well. Strain into rocks glass with ice. Float final ½ oz. of Tanduay Gold Asian Rum.

The second — Ginger Mojito — gives your cocktail an Asian kick by blending ginger liqueur with herbaceous, cool min and Tanduay Silver Asian Rum.

GINGER MOJITO

2 oz. Tanduay Silver Asian Rum
½ oz. Ginger Liqueur
½ oz. Simple cane syrup
6-8 Mint Leaves
1 Lime quartered
4 oz. Club soda

Gently muddle mint, lime, ginger liqueur and simple cane syrup in chilled glass. Add ice cubes and Tanduay. Stir, pour into a fresh chilled cocktail glass and top with club soda.
