Miami Spice Review of Market at Edition

Miami Spice - Market at Edition - salumeria counter @savortonight

The quietly elegant Market at Edition is Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s other restaurant concept in the Miami Beach Edition Hotel. Like its popular sister, Matador Room by Jean-Georges, it is overseen by Executive Chef Jeremy Ford, the 2016 winner of Bravo TV’s Top Chef.

We were invited to taste the Market at Edition’s menu for Miami Spice Month, a summertime restaurant promotion where three-course price fixed dinners are available for $39.

Entering the white and gold décored, yet casual restaurant, we sat down at one of the dining tables interspersed among gourmet food counters filled with enticing pastries and cakes or beautiful meats and cheeses.

Surveying the various menu options for the three course dinner, we ordered the Crispy Salmon Sushi and Fresh Ricotta and Strawberry Compote as appetizers.

After spreading the light as air and creamy ricotta cheese on slices of toasted crusty bread, from the Market’s boulangerie counter, we slathered on the house-made jam made with whole Florida strawberry. The mildness of the fresh ricotta, drizzled with virgin olive oil and seasoned with pepper, combined well with the plate’s sweet and crunchy elements.

The other starter, rows of fresh salmon sashimi draped over warm crunchy rice logs, was mildly, yet superbly, flavored with a chipotle pepper emulsion.

Between the delicacy of first and hardiness of the second appetizer, I most preferred the flavor and texture of the Crispy Salmon Sushi.

We each enjoyed simple, light and savory entrees that were excellent examples of naturally nutritious clean cuisine.

The Parmesan-crusted Organic Chicken breasts was thinly covered in lemon butter sauce with artichokes and fresh basil. Seared Salmon filet rested on top of delicious corn polenta that I could not get enough of.

Miami Spice - Market at Edition - sundae @savortonight

For our final course, we chose the Sundae and, from the Market’s pâtisserie, the Carrot Cake. The cake, frosted and filled with cream cheese icing, was delicious and moist, but not as gratifying as the sundae.

Three scoops of salted caramel ice cream and a mix of candied peanut and popcorn filled the bowl. Then, the playful dessert was drizzled in chocolate sauce and topped with fresh whipped cream.
