The Old Arcade AFROHEAD Rum Happy Hour Review

AFROHEAD Rums held a special cocktail social at downtown Delray Beach’s speakeasy, The Old Arcade. We were invited to try out AFROHEAD Rum’s tasty new cocktails recipes served up by the bar’s talented mixologists.

The secret door the prohibition era bar can be found by heading to Caffe Martier on Atlantic Avenue, and going around to the back alley, where you’ll find The Old Arcade’s neon lit sign marking the entrance. Or, come inside the open-spaced Caffe Martier, and locate the speakeasy’s heavily draped opening.

At the long, dark wood paneled bar, the bartender first introduced me to the exotic Tiki Tiki made with AFROHEAD Briland 07,  a silky smooth 7 year old rum with a burnt toffee flavor. The added ingredients of pear cognac, pistachio orgeat, and peach tea created a fruity cocktail, which was served on the rocks and garnished with lime.

Next, I enjoyed the Smoked Rum Old Fashioned. This cocktail was created with AFROHEAD XO 15 year, which is a drier and complex rum that hints of vanilla. The addition of walnut bitters and brown sugar cube produced a nutty Old Fashioned, which was perfectly finished with an extra-large square, slow melting ice cube and lemon zest.

Lastly, also made with AFROHEAD Briland 07, was the tart Aged Afro-Daiquiri mixed with lemon-lime cordial and sugar, and served straight up with a lime wedge.

The Old Arcade is located at 411 E Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33483.
