Fairchild Gardens will host a lovely Mother’s Day Tea on Sun., May 8 from 3-5 p.m. on the Veranda and in the Ballroom of the Jean Ellen DuPont Shehan Visitor Center. Perfect for mothers and grandmothers alike, this afternoon tea will include live music, scones, savories and desserts.

Sometimes, it’s okay to put mom back into the kitchen on Mother’s Day — like this year, when she has the opportunity to learn how to make French pastries at Sur La Table in Boca Raton that she’ll be able to enjoy time and time again. From 10 a.m. until noon on Sun., May 8, instructor Christopher Gaie will demystify the entire process of making French pastries from scratch — and teach the class an easy step-by-step process. Students will learn to make a Fresh Strawberry Financier, French Toast Macarons and classic Profiteroles with Crème Chantilly.

From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., visitors (kids 5 and up) will be able to participate in gift-making activities like decorating a heart-shaped cookie cake ($11) and creating hand-drawn Mother’s Day cards.

While the kids will be having loads of fun creating, moms will be treated tocomplimentary mimosas with the Whole Foods Market’s specialty department.

In addition, Whole Foods Market will be offering complimentary floral wrapping — making this in all-in-one extravaganza.
